In america, we rarely see cultures that do that. Write her a letter or email, texts are too short, and explain to her your side of the story. Let her know you wouldnt go out of your way to explain if you didnt care!

Well if you have a girlfriend you need to put that so called "culture" aside. I don’t think that she should take you back.

Calmly explain that it is part of your culture, and it is not romantic. To get her back (and to keep her back) give her attention and prove to her that she is the only one you care about. Just be careful not to be defensive- if you are it will make you look like you are trying to hide something.
Truthfully, I wouldn’t believe you. If she was your girlfriend, and this is your custom then how is it she has never seen you do this before? I don’t mean to be judgmental. Really. Maybe you just started dating? Ok… well, I guess the only thing you can do is explain it to her and hope for the best.
If that is the truth explain that to her. Say even though it is your culture it will never happen again. If you love her you can give something like that up. Beg if you have too, if she is sweet and understanding she will forgive you. Hope it goes well
