In that movie, they both worked to destroy the marriage, the husband more so than the wife. It was when the husband owned up to his side of the problem and showed the wife he was serious about changing that she reconsidered and they both decided to make it work.

It takes two in the long run, but in "Fireproof", when the husband changed his behavior, it gave the wife a chance to change hers as well.

You could do everything on your side to show your commitment. If he still walks away then you know you did everything in your power to save the marriage and make it better. If he allows your actions to affect him, his barriers may come down and he may decide to give it another good try.

i truly believe it takes 2 to save a marriage. but it can take 1 to make the first move to save the marriage, because if both person are stubborn then it can take 1 to make the move, but at the end of the day, they both have to want this, or it wont work.

I tried desperately to save my 24 year marriage…he didn’t try at all. We’ve been divorced since 2005.

IT takes 2 unless there is only 1 person to blame for its failure.
For example, if the husband works and comes home everyday and the wife just nags at him even though he’s trying to make her happy, then it’s up to the wife to show some love and respect her husband.

It takes two. Think of the marriage as a canoe being paddled across a lake. If just one person is paddling on one side of the canoe, how well will it travel across that lake? Sure, the one person paddling can switch the oar from one side to the other and back, but s/he is doing all the work.
